Lake life in the middle of Pinellas
Seminole is built around water most visitors never see: Lake Seminole's 700 acres, the canals connecting its neighborhoods, and the quiet residential lakes scattered through the area. It's freshwater dock country — a different world from the saltwater bay, with its own rules and its own rewards.
Lake Seminole itself is a county park lake: great bass fishing, paddling, and a shoreline that's part natural, part developed. The residential canals and lakes around it are where the private docks live — modest structures for fishing, kayaks, and small boats, in neighborhoods where the water is the backyard's best feature.
Freshwater dock building
Freshwater changes the engineering in your favor. No marine borers. Far less corrosion. No tides to design around. That means simpler structures, more material options, and docks that last with less fuss. We still build to proper standards — good pilings, good fasteners, good framing — but a lake dock doesn't fight the same enemies a bay dock does.
The considerations here are different: lake level fluctuations instead of tides, soft lake bottoms that need real piling depth, and shoreline regulations from the county park system near the big lake. We design for lake conditions specifically, not saltwater habits carried inland.
