Island time, island docks
Anna Maria Island is seven miles of old Florida charm — no high-rises, no chains, just beach cottages, the City Pier, and canals like Bimini Bay threading through the island's bay side. The waterfront homes here range from historic cottages to stunning new builds, and nearly all of them orient toward the water. A dock on Anna Maria isn't an accessory; it's the point.
The island's bay-side canals are the dock water: protected, moderate depth, and lined with seawalls. Bimini Bay and the canals off it hold good depth in most spots. The Gulf side is beach — no docks there — so everything happens on the bay side, where the water is calm and the sunsets are the main event.
Island codes and vacation homes
Anna Maria's three cities take their character seriously, and dock projects go through real review — we prepare complete applications and design docks that suit the island's scale. Many island homes are second homes or vacation rentals, which changes the dock conversation: low-maintenance materials (composite or PVC decking), lighting on timers, and designs that look great in listing photos and hold up between visits.
Storm exposure is real on a barrier island — we build with that in the engineering, not as an afterthought. And for the fishing-obsessed (which is half the island), a pier with underwater lights over Bimini Bay is about as good as it gets.
